The city of Rocky Mount has launched the Rock the Mask Rocky Mount! Campaign featuring the Mayor and City Council members to encourage citizens, visitors and other travelers to wear face coverings in public. As part of the campaign, two vinyl and one digital billboard were recently installed, along with an online media campaign encompassing social media and email marketing. The Rock the Mask! billboards are located on eastbound Highway 64 just past the Atlantic Avenue on-ramp, Benvenue Road near Hunter Hill Road and on Winstead Avenue near the Highway 64 interchange.

“The Rock the Mask! Campaign is just one component of a multi-faceted educational program the city has deployed regarding COVID-19 and aligns with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendation that wearing cloth face coverings helps slow the spread of COVID -19,” said City Manager Rochelle Small-Toney. “We strive to increase awareness in our community and encourage the public to follow all CDC recommendations.”

The city’s comprehensive COVID-19 effort began with the launching of the Coronavirus Information page followed by the unveiling of the Citizen Resource Center, both located on the city’s website at rockymountnc.gov. In June, the city’s Stop the Spread print campaign included internal and external building signage reminding employees and citizens the many ways to protect themselves and help slow the virus’ spread.
