What is the minimum age of admittance? 55 years of age

Can I bring my spouse/ friend/ relative with me to the senior center if they are under the age of 55? Yes. Spouses/partners under the age of 55 are permitted to pay the same monthly fees and attend with their spouse/partner. Guests can attend with and older adult (55+) but are not allowed to use fitness center equipment or participate in activities unless otherwise advertised. Daily fees will apply for various activities.

What are your hours of operation? Monday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 7:00 pm, Friday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Saturday & Sunday: closed to general public/open for private rental. The facility observes all city-wide holidays.

How do I sign up for SilverSneakers? SilverSneakers eligibility can be checked on their website. The senior center is not able to sign you up, this must be done through your own insurance company.

Where is the Senior Center located? The Rocky Mount Senior Center is located in downtown Rocky Mount at 427 S. Church Street right next to the train station at the site of the old downtown YMCA.

How can I volunteer? Individuals interested in volunteering should stop by the center or contact us via phone at 252-972-1566.

What type of services does the Senior Center offer? Our goal is to provide health and safety information, educational opportunities for lifelong learning, leisure recreational activities, and referral services. We seek to offer programs that are physically, mentally, emotionally, culturally, and socially beneficial to our participants and provide the opportunity for them to age actively. Rental Questions

How do I make reservations? Call 252-972-1562.

Can anyone make a reservation? Yes. Facilities are available to the public - both city and non-city residents.

How far in advance can I make a reservation? Reservations can be made as far as 12 months in advance. You will need to check the availability for your event date.

Can I see the rental space before I book it? Yes, please call 252-972-1561 to schedule a walk through.

What is the maximum number of people your facility can accommodate? 75 to 125 people depending on space and type of event.

Do you provide tables and chairs? Tables (39 six foot tables) and chairs (175) are available. The renter is responsible for the setup and breakdown of the tables and chairs. If more are needed they will need to be rented from an outside vendor.

Do you allow alcohol and/or smoking? Renters wishing to serve alcoholic beverages must obtain permission from the Rocky Mount City Council. A written request must be submitted to the City Manager's Office at least four weeks in advance of the event. The hiring of an off duty law enforcement officer will be required. Smoking is allowed in designated outside areas.

Is parking available? Yes. There is ample free parking in the front and back of building.

What is the rental cancellation policy? Renters cancelling at least two weeks in advance are eligible for an 85% refund. Those cancelling within two weeks of the event are not eligible for a refund. A 100% refund can be granted for medical emergency or family illness - pending verification.
