Cemeteries

Cemeteries

The City of Rocky Mount owns and operates three cemeteries. They are significant public assets, invested by the community with sentimental, historic and cultural value. Cemetery operations include approximately 140 internments each year, along with maintenance of all three cemeteries. General cemetery services offered are the sale of grave spaces, grave openings/closings and maintenance of cemetery properties, issuance of cemetery permits for installation of markers, monuments, and preservation and maintenance of burial records.

Citizens should contact local monument companies and funeral homes for purchase or installation of memorials, vaults, and other products and services associated with burials. All cemetery fees and charges must be paid 48 in advance before use of interment spaces. In observance of city holidays the cemetery office is closed, and no burials will be permitted.
